This is one of the most structured university scholarship programs in Nepal, and every year students miss out simply because they didn't know the process. So let's break it down properly.

Pokhara University Scholarship 2083 – What's the Deal?

Pokhara University runs a government-mandated scholarship program under its Scholarship Regulations, 2065, offering full tuition waivers across Science & Technology, Management, and Humanities & Social Sciences faculties.

The selection is purely merit-based through a written entrance exam — no connections, no interviews.

Who Can Apply?

This is where most students get confused. PU's scholarship isn't open to everyone equally.

You must have:

• Nepali citizenship

• Studied in a public/government school from Class 6 to Class 10

• Passed SEE or SLC from that public school

• Met the minimum academic qualification for your chosen program

Students from private schools can still apply but fall under a separate category — and historically, the vast majority of scholarship seats go to public school students. That's by design.

Scholarship Quota Breakdown

PU has been allocating 1,300+ scholarships across its faculties annually. Here's the general distribution:

Faculty of Management Studies (~788 seats)

Faculty of Science & Technology (~490–501 seats)

Includes BE-Civil, BE-Computer, BE-Software, BE-IT, BE-Electrical, BCA, B.Arch, and BSc Environmental Management.

Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences (~39 seats)

BDevs, BED, BECS, and BALLB — smaller quota, higher competition per seat.

How the 60/40 Split Works

Out of the total scholarship quota:

• 60% is open to all eligible candidates

• 40% is reserved — for differently-abled students, martyrs' families, people from remote areas, Dalits, indigenous nationalities, and Madhesi communities

And within both categories, 50% of seats are reserved for women.

Practically speaking: if you're a woman from a public school background in a reserved category, your odds are significantly better.

How to Apply — Step by Step

1. Go to scholarship.pu.edu.np

2. Register a new account

3. Fill out the online form for your chosen faculty/program

4. Pay the application fee via bank deposit, eSewa, or PhonePay — and keep the Transaction ID

5. Enter the Transaction ID in your form (banks print this on your voucher — don't leave the counter without it)

6. Submit before the deadline

One thing students miss every year: if you studied at a public school from Class 6-10, you must attach the Anusuchi 2 form (Schedule 2). It's downloadable from the portal. Skipping this disqualifies you from the public school category even if you're eligible.

After the Exam — What Happens Next?

PU publishes results in phases:

1. Pass List — students who cleared the entrance exam

2. Merit Lists I, II, III — ranked allocation by program and college choice

3. If seats remain after List III, a fourth list is published

Once your name appears in the merit list, you have a strict deadline to upload your Grade 12 transcript and character certificate online. Miss that window and you're out — even with a top score. This catches a lot of students off guard.

Is PU Scholarship Worth It?

Straight answer: yes, if you get it.

Engineering fees at PU colleges run anywhere from Rs. 5.8 to 6.2 lakh over 4 years. BBA comes to roughly Rs. 4–5 lakh depending on the college. A scholarship waives all of that.

The entrance exam is competitive but not impossible — it's subjective/written, not MCQ, so consistent preparation matters more than guessing strategies.
