The Tribhuvan University Institute of Engineering (TU IOE) has officially published its entrance examination notice for BE/B.Arch programs for the academic year 2083/84. If you're planning to pursue engineering in Nepal, here's every detail you need in one place.

Registration for the BE/B.Arch entrance opens from Ashadh 3, 2083 (17 June 2026), and the entrance exam is scheduled from Ashadh 28, 2083 (12 July 2026) onwards.

Exam Fee

The entrance exam fee is Rs. 2,000, to be paid at the time of online form submission.

How to Apply

Applicants must fill out the online application form available at entrance.ioe.edu.np. The form can be filled from anywhere with internet access.

When filling the form, you'll need:

  • Full name, date of birth, permanent address

  • SLC/SEE and 10+2/PCL result details

  • A recent passport-size digital photo (350×350 px, plain background)


Total Seats Available

The five TU constituent campuses together offer 2,040 seats, while 10 affiliated engineering colleges provide an additional 2,304 seats, bringing the total annual intake capacity under TU to 4,344 students.

📚 Exam Syllabus & Pattern

The IOE entrance is a computer-based test (CBT) of two hours, covering four subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English.

Key exam facts:

  • Full marks: 140

  • Pass marks: approximately 45–55

  • Mathematics carries the highest weightage (40 marks)

  • Negative marking applies — 10 wrong answers result in 1 mark deducted

  • Medium of exam: English


Eligibility

To be eligible, candidates must have passed Higher Secondary Education (10+2 Science) with at least Grade C in all subjects, with Physics, Chemistry, and two papers of Mathematics (200 marks total), or an equivalent qualification. Institute of Engineering


Scholarships

Candidates who pass the IOE entrance exam and meet the legal standards set by Nepal's Ministry of Education, Science and Technology will be eligible for government scholarships in engineering programs for the year 2083/84.


Quick Preparation Tips

  • Start at least 3–4 months in advance

  • Focus on Mathematics first since it carries the highest marks (40), then Physics, then Chemistry.

  • Solve previous year IOE papers daily from 2 months before the exam

  • Securing a seat at Pulchowk Campus typically requires scoring in the top 5–10% of all IOE entrance takers.

  • Don't ignore negative marking — attempt only what you're confident about
